DWS Comment Policy
Dawson Women’s Shelter is committed to supporting survivors, ending gender-based violence, and being a part of important conversations.
We encourage folks to comment and to have your voice heard.
DWS has the right to remove comments that are offensive, oppressive, hurtful, hateful, targeting specific groups, or that are baiting folks into a conversation that is not truly an open discussion.
There is enough hate and oppression out there in the world – we don’t need any more of it here!
We aim to provide a space where readers feel comments are productive and not oppressive or silencing of marginalized voices, while recognizing that it is impossible to be a safe(r) space according to every person’s definition.
Let’s work together to make both our online and offline communities free from violence and oppression.
Our comment policy is adapted from SACHA’s who were inspired by the policies of Feministing, femifesto, and Feministe.!

Dawson Women’s Shelter wants to acknowledge that our community has been hurting and on high alert due to multiple physical and sexual assaults this past week.
